August 31, 2016:  Welcome

It is with pleasure that the Icelandic Society of Rheumatology, on behalf of the Scandinavian Society of Rheumatology, welcomes you to the 36th Scandinavian Congress of Rheumatology, 1-3 of September, 2016 in Harpa Reykjavík, with a 2 half days pre-course.

The scientific committee represents all the Nordic countries and also representatives of young rheumatologists. For the organization of the health professionals’ sessions we had co-operation with Nordic health professionals and patient organizations.

It is a great privilege to host the 36th  Scandinavian Congress of Rheumatology which is an important meeting place for clinicians and scientists in rheumatology in the Nordic countries to exchange knowledge, experience and ideas and to promote Nordic collaborations and networking. It is a meeting where young and established clinicians and researchers in rheumatology meet across the Nordic borders and last but not least it is an important meeting for the continuous education for clinicians.

We have therefore applied for and succeeded to get CME accreditation for first time and we were accredited with 19 European CME credits for the congress.

The scientific program will include an overview of recent developments in the field, abstract presentations, practice management issues and presentations for all health professionals. There will be poster presentations with organized poster tours lead by young rheumatologists. The pre-course will include both research and clinical topics intended for rheumatology trainees aiming for clinical and/or academic career.

One of the goals of this congress is also to promote young scientists working within rheumatology research and to promote interdisciplinary research in the Nordic countries.

We hope that the SCR 2016 will be of relevance to a broad audience including clinicians, investigators and other healthcare providers within the field of rheumatology. The meeting should reflect both the latest advances in rheumatology and be a forum for reinforcing Nordic and international collaboration involving Nordic rheumatology.

A warm welcome to the 36th  Scandinavian Congress of Rheumatology!

On behalf of the Scandinavian Society of Rheumatology, Icelandic Society for Rheumatology and of the scientific and local organizing Committees of the SCR 2016,
